My name is Steve Brazill, and I’m a Southern California live music photographer, and a geek at heart. I have been on the radio since the early 80’s, and merging my love of music with my love of tech is part of how I got into photography. Along with the radio stuff – I am currently on the air at KCAL FM, I do a lot of Emcee work, voice overs, and little bit of local TV, but my actual “job” is in IT. I am an independent network consultant. Like I said…. 100% geek. For the other geeks out there, I first got my MCSE on Windows NT 3.51.

After so many years on the air, I knew I wanted to try podcasting, and I first had the idea for the Behind the Shot podcast back in 2014. I was starting to photograph more often and found myself wondering how the images I was seeing from others had been made. How did they get that look? Why did they choose that location and / or angle? What made them choose the lens they did, or the lighting they used? Over and over I saw images I thought I could learn from, but there was nowhere to go where those photographers were answering those questions.

I launched the show in 2016 on a photography based podcast network, but have been on my own since 2018. I hope you like the Behind the Shot podcast and if you do, please share the show with your friends. It also really helps if you leave a review in iTunes or wherever. If you would like to reach out to me for any reason, or would like to suggest a guest for the show, just head on over to the contact form.
